Baruch’s solo show Love in the Time of Piñatas got a “clapping man” from the SF Chronicle and was performed to sold-out houses at Epic Party Theatre in December of 2019. Love in the time of Piñatas had a preview performance at Brava Theatre in 2017. In June of 2019, his solo show All My Friends Are Depressed sold out Brava Cabaret and returned with Epic Party Theatre later that August. He was one of the playwrights of FUGUE with Detour Dance Theatre in 2017. He has been an artist-in-residence at The Ground Floor — Berkeley Rep, is a Lambda Literary Fellow in Playwriting, and has workshopped his solo shows at The Marsh Theatre. He was born in Toluca, Mexico, and lives in San Francisco.

Richard is queer, Latine theater director and producer committed to new works and genre-defying theatrical events by queer artists of color. Their work centers the celebration, reflection, and showcasing of the queer community, with an emphasis on queer, Latine/x stories.
They were the Director in Residence for New Conservatory Theatre Center, a two-year recipient of the National New Play Network’s (NNPN) Producer in Residence Program, and a member of SDC Foundation's Observership Class. Richard is a founder for Epic Party Theatre, where he produced and directed the workshop production of LOVE IN THE TIME OF PIÑATAS by Baruch Porras Hernandez at Z Below.
